#LITplease Rules

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 16, 2007, 4:13 PM

#LITplease is not yet officially open.

Welcome to #LITplease. Here, you will find a variety of writers from all walks of life, timezones and cultures. Whether you're the next Dickens or Shakespeare, just a hobbyist, or you're simply an avid reader, we invite you to visit. No aspect of literature is considered out of bounds.

Note, however, that by entering our chatroom you've immediately agreed to abide by our Code of Conduct. This code was created to help all chatters generate a creative atmosphere founded on mutual respect. Prior to chatting, please take the time to read over our Code.

Code of Conduct

1. Promote and Discuss Literature
It is our expectation that all chatters highlight and promote lit-orientated chat within #LITplease. Above all else, we are all here for the discussion of literature. Therefore, it is ideal that topics surround that subject. We don't mind if the conversation occasionally strays to non-lit topics, but should any arguments arise due to these topics or chatters begin to express interest in returning to a lit related topic, Moderators will request for a conversation change. Moderators are not required to monitor or settle disputes that arise from non-prose related discussions and have the right to request that you change the topic.

2. Giving and Accepting Critique with Goodwill and Grace
Critique is part-and-parcel of #LITplease since many writers are seeking feedback on how to improve their works. By posting any of your work in the chat, either by multi-line input or link, you are agreeing to have your work critiqued. All critique is to remain constructive, not derogatory or inflammatory. Please do not become defensive about your work. Those offering feedback are trying to help you, even if they must highlight some of the flaws to do so.

3. Sharing pieces within the chatroom
Poetry & prose can be posted and shared within the chatroom, but it is preferred that you post by link, not multi-line input. If you must post in the chat itself, your submission must be 200 words or less. This way, the chatroom won't be flooded. Prior to posting, please warn other chatters--this is only polite.

4. Manners
Please be courteous and polite when addressing fellow chatters. Good manners are much appreciated! We ask that you consider what you say before posting in the chat. Some issues are simply not suitable for #LITplease. Be thoughtful towards other writers: hurtful comments will not encourage better writing, it will only cause rifts in our creative circle. Please keep all swearing to a minimum and consider the room's company. This room is a general room and therefore, many teenagers or younger deviants visit this room. Out of consideration for others, watch your language and topics of conversation. Excessive vulgarity will earn you a kick and possibly a ban.

5. Advertising of non-approved sites, bots, and chatrooms is not allowed
Non-#LITplease bots and advertising of other rooms & sites, non-lit related, are NOT ALLOWED. If we see you involved in such activity, you will be kicked from the chatroom, no questions asked.

:star: THE ABSOLUTE GOLDEN RULE: :star: Please enjoy yourself! #LITplease is glad to have you in its chatroom and we look forward to seeing you again. If this is your first time in #LITplease, please come armed with a good knowledge of literature, one hell of a sense of humour and some ink.

Idiot's Guide to Getting Banned

Doing the following will earn you a warning, a kick, probation, a ban from the chat, or even a ban from the club (depending on severity):

1. Intentionally harassing, threatening, embarrassing or causing distress or discomfort to another chatter.

2. Posting any thumbnails/material/text that may be considered harmful, abusive, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or otherwise objectionable. Since Erotica is a category of prose, we suggest that all Erotica writers request permission from other chatters prior to posting any excerpts. You MUST NOT post any Erotica excerpts if there are deviants under 18 present in the room.

3. Using excessive profanity to emphasize your point or to cause distress to others.

4. Advertising other chatrooms, sites, companies without permission from the staff. If someone you've met through ProsePlease is interested in your chatroom, material or venture, please continue your conversation via private chat or note. Telling someone you are making a chat or club and asking if they'd like to join when it's finished is also considered advertising.

6. Using any non-#LITplease bots for any purpose.

7. Deliberate participation and aggravation of any discussions that lead to insults, vulgarity, and/or anger. All those involved will be kicked or banned and the topic of the conversation will be returned immediately to literature. Talking about things such as religion, politics, sexual preference, or suicide can be problematic and should therefore be approached with caution.

7. Spamming. This includes repeated posting of links to a website, chatrooms, or deviations, excessive punctuation, emotes, thumbnails, icons, or capital letters.

9. Flooding (repeated posting of the same line, text or words).

10. Plagiarism, in any form, will result in an immediate ban and you will be reported to dA.

A Message from VampBabe

"ProsePlease is home to a number of writers from different nations, cultures and beliefs. From the moment you join, you are in essence entering an online metropolis. However, we do all have one thing in common--a love of writing. Given that the chatroom is so universal, you must all realise that ProsePlease belongs to everyone. It doesn't support any one specific philosophy, culture, or belief but the written word. Naturally, ProsePlease does not condone the slander or belittling of other cultures. I ask that you be thoughtful with what you say in our chatrooms. Please speak kindly to others and treat them as you would like to be treated.

As a ProsePlease founder, I would like to make a request of you. Please keep your mind open. The world is a great and amazing place and there are lessons to be learnt from other cultures and beliefs, even if you don't share or understand them. Please do not be offended if you encounter different opinions and thoughts. People do not lead the same lives and their experiences will differ from yours and consequently, their perception of the world is not the same. However, if you're patient, you may come to understand why they believe in the things that they do and in doing so, grow richer for it.

I wish everyone a pleasurable time in #LITplease and may your writing be productive and creative."

You don't have to worry anymore... apparently I was removed completely from this club, due to Remagoen. Also I am banned from the chat, so I'm quite glad I'm not listed as a member.

All I say is that I don't like him, and I don't stick around in the chat when he is there, because I am avoiding creating a scene. I'm not trying to goad him into anything.
