Q&A

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 16, 2007, 2:41 PM

Greetings, everyone! My name is =Squarix and I run the Questions and Answers section of ProsePlease.

:bulletred: Have any questions?

:bulletred: Something I'm doing wrong?

:bulletred: A concern of some kind?

Please feel free to contact me via ProsePlease; I'll be happy to help you out!

Updates

:bulletpurple: The first Q&A interview of 2008 is out, featuring our very own ^StJoan. You can check it out here :boogie:

:bulletpurple: You can look forward to the next feature in February, and I'll try to keep on tab with a regular feature at the beginning of each month. The next interview of Q&A will also have a news article, so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

:bulletpurple: Do you have a suggestion for a writer that you think deserves to be featured? Then send a note to ProsePlease saying "Q&A feature," with your suggestion.

What is Q&A?

ProsePlease's Q&A (Questions and Answers) is dedicated towards interviewing members of deviantART who write prose (the chosen members do not have to be members of ProsePlease). Each month a new individual is chosen by the Q&A coordinator and an specific interview time is scheduled.

The interviews can be handled in two different fashions:

:bulletblue: 1) The Q&A coordinator personally interviews the selected individual via note
Once the interview is complete, the Q&A coordinator evaluates the interview transcript and uses the information to write an article in the style of one you would find in a magazine or news paper. The article is then submitted to ProsePlease for viewing purposes.

    OR

:bulletblue: 2) The selected individual is invited to the ProsePlease chatroom
Others are welcome to join in and ask the individual their own questions about things such as technique, style, trouble-shooting, etc. During this time, the Q&A coordinator is present, recording the questions and the individual's responses.

The individuals are selected personally by the Q&A coordinator, but suggesting members of deviantART for future interviews is always appreciated.

Time Zone Help?

If you are incountering some issues when attempting to figuring out when a Q&A event is going to be held in your time zone, be sure to check out the following website: [link]

Select the date and time that the next Q&A is set for in the first group of drop-down lists. Underneath the date and time select "Canada - Ontario - Toronto", as this is the time zone which the date of each Q&A will be listed. For the final drop-down menu, select your current location, then click on the button below ("Convert time"). The results will be shown in a table with three sections. The first two ("Location" and "Local Time") are the only two in which you need to know.

I would love to be in a workshop, but I'm not able to chat for some reason. Is it possible to submit work without having to chat?

All sections (except for Q&A & Ink Sessions) require submissions of prose by note, not chat. However, each individual section works a little differently and towards different goals. I strongly suggest you have a read of the rules/goal of each section and go from there.

This section works by organising interviews with various deviant writers. They can be members or non-members but usually, good writers :D. It can be done in one of two ways: 1) a chat-based forum - where members & guests are invited to ask questions of the writer about technique, style, trouble-shooting, anything... OR 2) an interview article where the section co-ordinator will ask questions of the writer, write their answers up and present it in written form. :P I hope that answers your question.
